While we might not be able to say where gingham was born –France, Italy and Germany to Japan and Cambodia to name just a few claim to be its birthplace – what we can tell you is that the name comes from the Malaysian word for striped: “genggang” and the print cloaks the VANA dress from Part Two. Stitched together from a lightweight woven yarn, it’s topped with a line of concealed buttons below the high neck and fitted with a ruffle-trim.
